Ludlow Foundries: An Established Tradition
Whether it’s the classic, Tudor looking black antique Fleur de Lys Lever Door Handle or a particularly aged looking house number that customers fancy for their outside doors, the whole range has proven very popular indeed.
The very aged and distressed finish of the pieces gives them an almost genuinely ancient look. They fit in very well where a house is older than turn of the century, particularly if the front door is anything more than a plain simple one.
The beeswax finish is remarkable in itself, because this new range is hand forged. That’s right! In these days of the “super smooth and super sleek door handle”, with the elegant curve; these upmarket handles and door fittings have been battered into shape from raw hot metal by hand: on an anvil with a great big blacksmith’s hammer. Now that doesn’t happen very often these days does it?
Ludlow Foundries have cleverly realised that the modern home owner with taste will often appreciate the individuality of hand made products. Does handmade mean that every item is different from its partners in the same line? Not really; but subtly, yes! Each individual item in this hand forged range is made to incredibly high craftsman’s standards and yet by the very nature of craftsmanship there is subtle distinctiveness to each and every item you buy from this range.
The range has been made pretty extensive and you will find that there is a hand forged Ludlow Foundries product to suit almost any situation where fastenings, lever door handles, window fittings or door latches are required – inside or out!
